5 Tricks to Up Your Views on TikTok

Have you been dabbling in TikTok but none of your videos have gained more than 50 or 60 views? It can be discouraging to create content that isn't connecting with your ideal audience. But don't get discouraged! If you're new to TikTok, you might be missing key information that will help your content's views immediately go up. We've collected 5 simple tricks to help you get more views on your TikToks.

1. Use Trending Sounds and Effects

The TikTok FYP is mostly full of videos all using the same trending sounds and effects. Hopping on these trends and effects is the most effective way to get your views up. Trends come and go extremely quickly on TikTok, so we suggest following these accounts to keep up. When you start noticing a trend, it's best to try and adapt it within 1-2 days of noticing it. Trends often disappear within a week on TikTok, and you don't want to miss the chance to capitalize on them.

2. Create Valuable Content

If you're only posting videos that took zero effort and only you find funny ... you won't be gaining views on TikTok. You need to think of your ideal audience on the platform and imagine what they might think is funny or what they would want to learn about. If you want to create a following around fashion, spend time creating content rating current looks in the fashion industry or explaining how trends start in high fashion and trickle their way down. When you start putting effort into creating quality, valuable content, you'll definitely see your views go up. Making silly content is fun, but it's chance of going viral is much lower than well curated content.

3. Engage With Successful Creators in Your Niche

Is there someone you see on your FYP all the time and think, "Wow they are so funny! I love their content!". Start commenting on their videos. Duet their videos. Maybe even DM them and ask if they'd be open to a video collaboration. When you engage with these accounts, you're telling TikTok that you like this content and that your content would do well with similar audiences. Also, if you post quality comments on successful creators videos, you might get noticed by other users in the comments section. This is a similar strategy to commenting first on Instagram posts in your niche.

4. Post Consistently

Every time you post a TikTok, it's sent to some users's FYPs to see how they react. Any action they take on your video (watching the whole video vs swiping immediately, liking, commenting, sharing) will effect how your video ranks in the TikTok algorithm. If you rarely post, your content goes through this "testing" phase very rarely. If you post daily, your content goes through this testing phase daily. When your video does well in the "testing" phase, it will gain traction on the FYP and be pushed to more users. The more often you post, the better chance you have at the coveted viral FYP video. BUT TikTok definitely rewards quality. If you consistently post bad content, your consistency won't matter.

5. Share Your TikToks on Other Platforms

Because TikTok is a newer platform, some of your followers on more established platforms might not have joined up yet. If you start sharing your TikToks to Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter, you may be able to draw followers (which will turn into views) over to your TikTok profile. When you share your TikToks to other platforms, make sure you include a strong CTA like "Head over to TikTok to watch more of my videos!" or "Go join TikTok and give me a follow for more funny videos!".

There's no doubt - TikTok is not as straightforward with its algorithm as Instagram is. The path to success on TikTok isn't quite as clear. The app requires a good deal of trial and error before you find what works for you. These tips will give you a baseline to help you get started. And believe us, TikTok isn't going anywhere - so now is the time to start. You've got this!
